સૌથી પહેલા તો ‘બેસ્ટ ગુજરાતી બ્લોગર’ તરીકે મારી પસંદગી થઇ.. એ માટે દરેક મિત્રોનો ખૂબ ખૂબ આભાર. 6 મહીના પહેલા ફક્ત શોખ માટે શરુ કરેલા બે બ્લોગ : ‘ટહુકો અને મોરપિચ્છ’ એક દિવસ અહીંયા સુધી પહોંચશે, એવો જરા ખ્યાલ નો’તો.
તો ચાલો.. આજના દિવસનો થોડો વધુ ખાસ બનાવીએ. ગુજરાતી સંગીત સાથેનો મારો પ્રેમ વધુ ગાઢ બનાવવામા સોલી કાપડિયાના આલ્બમ ‘પ્રેમ એટલે કે..’ નો ઘણો મોટો ફાળો… જ્યારે ગુજરાતીમાં, પણ કંઇક નવું શોઘતી હતી, ત્યારે સુરત સ્ટેશન પરના એકદમ નાની એક કેસેટ સ્ટોરના માલિકે મને આ કેસેટ આપેલી.. અને પૂરા આત્મવિશ્વાસ સાથે એમણે કહેલુ.. ‘લઇ જાઓ.. ચોક્કસ ગમશે’. અને પછી તો સોલીભાઇ સાથે ફોન પર વાત કરી.. એમના બીજા આલ્બમ લેવા અમદાવાદના ‘ક્રોસવર્ડ’ ગઇ.. તો ત્યાંથી ‘હસ્તાક્ષર’.. ‘મારી આંખે કંકુના સૂરજ’.. એવા ઘણા બીજા આલ્બમ લીધા…
ઓહ… ચલો હવે વધારે લાંબી વાત નહીં કરું… સાંભળો સોલીભાઇના મધુર કંઠમાં આ મારું અતિપ્રિય ગીત.
પ્રેમ એટલે કે,
સાવ ખુલ્લી આંખોથી થતો મળવાનો વાયદો.
સ્વપ્નમાં પળાય એવો કાયદો…
પ્રેમ એટલે કે,
તારા ગાલોના ખાડામાં ડૂબી જતા મારા ચોર્યાશી લાખ વહાણોનો કાફલો
(આ ચોર્યાશી લાખ વહાણો ક્યાંથી આવ્યા એ ખબર છે ? વાંચો.. કાવ્યને અંતે)
ક્યારે નહીં માણી હો,
એવી કોઈ મોસમનો કલરવ યાદ આવે,
એ પ્રેમ છે.
દાઢી કરતા જો લોહી નીકળે ને ત્યાંજ કોઈ પાલવ યાદ આવે,
એ પ્રેમ છે.
પ્રેમ એટલે કે,
સાવ ઘરનો જ એક ઓરડો… ને તોય આખા ઘરથી અલાયદો…
કાજળ આંજીને તને જોઉં તો તું લાગે,
એક છોકરીને તે શ્યામવર્ણી
વાદળ આંજીને જોતાં એવું લાગ્યું કે,
મને મૂકી આકાશને તું પરણી
પ્રેમમાં તો
ઝાકળ આંજીને તને જોવાની હોય
અને ફૂલોમાં ભરવાનો હોય છે મુશાયરો…
પ્રેમ એટલે કે…
સાવ ખુલ્લી આંખોથી થતો મળવાનો વાયદો.
( આ ગીતમાં આવતી ‘ તારા ગાલોના ખાડામાં ડૂબી જતા મારા ચોર્યાશી લાખ વહાણોનો કાફલો… ‘ કે કડી સાંભળવાની મને ઘણી જ મજા આવે.. પણ આ ચોર્યાશી લાખ વહાણોની વાત શું છે, એ પ્રશ્ન દિમાગમાં જરૂર આવ્યો હતો… એટલે એક દિવસ મમ્મીને પૂછ્યું, ત્યારે ખબર પડી, કે પહેલાના જમાનામાં જ્યારે સુરત એક ધમધમતું બંદર હતું, ત્યારે ચોર્યાશી અલગ અલગ બંદરોના વહાણો ત્યાં આવતા.. એટલે એવું કહેવાતું કે સુરતમાં ચોર્યાશી બંદરોના વાવટા ફરકે.. વખત જતાં એ ચોર્યાશી નું અપભ્રંશ થતા, કહેવતમાં ચોર્યાશી લાખની વાત આવતી થઇ ગઇ. )
અને મારો આ ભ્રમ દૂર થયો વિવેકભાઇની વાત પરથી :
ચોર્યાસી બંદરની વાત ભલે સાચી હોય, પણ અહીં કવિએ નથી સુરતની વાત કરી કે નથી એના કાંઠે આવતા ચોર્યાસી બંદરોના જહાજની વાત. આખી કવિતામાં બીજે ક્યાંય સુરતનો સંદર્ભ આવતો નથી. આ ચોર્યાસી લાખ જહાજ એટલે મારી દૃષ્ટિએ ચોર્યાસી લાખ જન્મોના ફેરા. પ્રેમિકાના ગાલના ખંજન પર ચોર્યાસી લાખ ભવ ઓવારી દેવાનું મન થાય એ પ્રેમ…

પણ સાહિત્ય એ મારો વિષય નથી.
તેમ છતા હુ આપણી ગુજરાતી ભાષાને વધારે ને વધારે જાણવાના સતત પ્રયત્નો કરતો રહું છું.

It has been two years since I came to US for my Master’s studies. I miss home so much and so many times I desperately wanted to hear this song and I could not find a proper source. I am immensely happy today that I could hear this song after such a long time! I am grateful to Jayshree! Awesome lyrics by Mukul Uncle and Soli Kapadia’s voice has done the rest! A perfect combination. I love your voice Soli! Before so many years, I heard you live in Surat. I wish if I could hear you once again live.

Vow! What a novel definition of love employing totally a new kind of poetic imagery. ’shaving’ ‘room’ etc are totally unpoetic and unesthetic acts or themes but here they do convey aesthetic sense. This is the ‘art’ or skill (?) of a poet.
