લગભગ 13-14 વર્ષની હતી, ત્યારથી અમુક ગુજરાતી ગીતો સાંભળ્યા છે… છેલાજી રે, પંખીડાને આ પીંજરું, એક રજકણ સુરજ થવાને શમણે, હવે પ્રભુ અવતાર લ્યો તો પ્રભુ જાણું, આજ મારી નણદીએ મેણું માર્યું.. ઘણા ગીતો નો તો ભાવ પણ નો’તો સમજાતો, તો યે મનભરીને મજા લીઘી છે એ ગીતોની. આજે જો એ બધા ગીતો સાંભળવા મળે તો કદાચ બાળપણ પાછું મળ્યું હોય એવી ખુશી થાય.
મારા ગુજરાતી સંગીત પ્રત્યેના લગાવની શરૂઆત ત્યાંથી થયેલી… પરંતુ આજે પણ જો કોઇ મને ગુજરાતીમાં કંઇ ગાવા કહે ( નસીબ સાંભળનારના, બીજુ શું? ) , કે કોઇ પ્રોગ્રામમાં મારે ફરમાઇશ કરવાની હોય, તો મને સૌથી પહેલા યાદ આવતું ગીત એટલે વેણીભાઇ પુરોહિતની કલમે લખાયેલું આ અમર ગીત. “તારી આંખનો અફીણી, તારા બોલનો બંધાણી”.
આ ગીતના વખાણ કરવા, કે એના વિષે કંઇક પણ કહેવું એ કદાચ મારા ક્ષમતાની બહાર છે. પણ હા, મને એક વાત કહેવાની ઇચ્છા જરૂર થાય છે. ગુજરાતી પ્રણય ગીતોના કોઇ કાઉન્ટ ડાઉન કાર્યક્રમનું સંચાલન મને આપવામાં આવે, તો મારે એ જ વિચારવું પડે કે 2 થી 10 નંબરમાં કયા કયા ગીતો મુકવા? પ્રથમ સ્થાન તો આ જ ગીત ને મળે.
અને આજે આવું ખાસ ગીત મુક્યં હોય, તો એને જરા વધુ ખાસ બનાવીએ, તો કેવું ?
સૌથી પહેલા તો સાંભળો દિવાદાંડી ફિલ્મમાં શ્રી દિલિપભાઇ ધોળકિયાના કંઠે ગવાયેલું અને સંગીતબધ્ધ થયેલું આ ગીત.
દિલિપભાઇના કંઠે આ ગીતની પ્રથમ કળી, કોઇ પણ સંગીત વગર સાંભળશો ? શબ્દ અને સ્વરના સોનામાં સંગીત જે સુગંધ ભેળવે છે, તે કદાચ આમ સંગીતની ગેરહાજરી વખતે વધારે ધ્યાનમાં આવે.
અને છેલ્લે, સોલીભાઇ ના ‘તારી આંખનો અફીણી’ આલ્બમને તો કેમ ભુલાઇ? સોલી કાપડિયાના મધુર કંઠે આ ગીત સાંભળો.

દિલિપભાઈના ગીતો શોધતો હોઉ ત્યારે “વગદા વચે તલાવડી..” અને “ભીત ફાડી ને પિપલો રે ઊગ્યો..” એ બન્ને ગીત ન મલવાથી નિરાશ થવાય છે. કોઈ શોખિન જિવડો શોધી આપશે? દિલિપભાઈનો અવાજ અજોડ હતો, એમના ગાયેલા ગીતો પછી બીજા કોઈના અવાજમા પસન્દ નથી આવતા.

Sorry,today there is some problem, I am not able to change to Gujarati fonts.
I grew up with the notion that the the composer of the song “Tari Annkh no Afini..” was (music of Film Diwadandi)of “Ismail Merchant”. Can some one let me know whether this particular song was composed by Shri Dilipbhai ??
I have been searching for another song sung by Dilipbhai (heard on Aakashwani)

Saw Amit N Trivedi’s post. Here is a clarification. Ismail Merchant who has left this world was a very renowned film director and producer whose movies like “Room with a view”, “The Guru”, “Shakespear Wallah” etc. are classics. He was an Urdu and Hindi speaking gentleman.
Music director for the Gujerati movie “Divadandi” was Ajit Merchant, a Gujerati.

Dilipbhai Dholakia’s original song is digging, and chips away my age by 50 years to remind his voice I heard in 1957-1959 on Mubai-A radio during “Mahila Mandal” programme. Thanx to all in chipping away our ages by almost half a century. Love you all for an excellent collection I will take a year to uncover.
