ટહુકો શરૂ કર્યાને હજુ થોડા દિવસો જ થયા હતા ને રજુ કરેલું આ ગીત, ટહુકો પર સૌથી વધુ વંચાયેલું, સંભળાયેલું અને કેટલાયની આંખો ભીની કરી ગયેલું ગીત છે..! ‘આંધળી માનો કાગળ’ - આટલા શબ્દો પછી આ ગીતને કોઇ પૂર્વભુમિકાની જરૂર જ નથી..!
કવિ ઇન્દુલાલ ગાંધી (ડિસેમ્બર 8 , 1911 : જાન્યુઆરી 10, 1986) ના બીજા ઘણા ગીતો જાણીતા છે, પણ આ ગીત તો જાણે એમના નામનો પર્યાય જ કહેવાય.. અને હા, એમણે લખેલો ‘દેખતા દીકરાનો જવાબ’ ઘણાએ વાંચ્યો - સાંભળ્યો હશે, પણ એ સિવાય પણ ઘણા કવિઓએ ‘દેખતા દીકરાનો જવાબ’ લખ્યો છે - એ તમને ખબર છે? (મને થોડા વખત પહેલા જ ખબર પડી). એ બધા જવાબ આપની સાથે ટહુકો પર ભવિષ્યમાં જરૂર વહેંચીશ, પણ આજે - કવિ શ્રી ઇન્દુલાલ ગાંધીના જન્મદિવસે - ગુજરાતી કાવ્ય-સંગીત સૃષ્ટિનું આ અમર ગીત; ગાયક-સ્વરકાર જયદીપ સ્વાદિયાના અવાજમાં ફરી એકવાર….

સમાચાર સાંભળી તારા,
રોવું મારે કેટલા દ્હાડા ?
ભાણાનો ભાણિયો લખે છે કે, ગગુ રોજ મને ભેળો થાય,
દન આખો જાય દાડિયું ખેંચવા રાતે હોટલમાં ખાય,
નિત નવાં લૂગડાં પ્હેરે
પાણી જેમ પઇસા વેરે.
હોટલનું ઝાઝું ખાઇશ મા, રાખજે ખરચી-ખૂટનું માપ,
દવાદારૂના દોકડા આપણે કાઢશું ક્યાંથી, બાપ !
કાયા તારી રાખજે રૂડી,
ગરીબની ઇ જ છે મૂડી.
ખોરડું વેચ્યું ને ખેતર વેચ્યું, કૂબામાં કર્યો છે વાસ,
જારનો રોટલો જડે નહિ તે દી પીઉં છું એકલી છાશ,
તારે પકવાનનું ભાણું,

દેખતી તે દી દળણાં-પાણી કરતી ઠામેઠામ,
આંખ વિનાનાં આંધળાંને હવે કોઇ ન આપે કામ,

Very touchy and emotional song.Many years ago one of my friends used to sing this song in party with tears in his eyes.Everyone’s eyes were dampened hearing this song.Years passed and i had earnest desire to read this song and i am very glad to have an opportunity to read as well as listen this song on your web site.The song depicts a mother’s MAMTA towards her son.She advised son to take care of his health because it is the only asset of poors.How touchy words?Son’s reply to his mother is equally sentimental. Some time in late 90s, while i was preparing for Civil Services Examinations… and was away from home, studying in Delhi, Maa shared this poem to me.. and while reciting, felt mositness in her eyes, which got flooded in the form of tears, by the time she was on the second stanza…exactly a decade later.. I am in US studying Conflict Resolution and Foreign Policy….and this song reminded me of those days… even the days of my childhood… where in Maa and dady, would have shared to us more than what they could.
In a literal sense.. she would have slept less, and remained awake, so that i can sleep in bliss..
They invested in us, she lived the life of a mother, a wife.. and now she is leading the life as what she is.. Harshada Dave..and am miles away from her.. my maa.. my world..the goddess,
and the plastic tabs of my key board, are drenched in my tears…

Jayshreeben , we may come across somany good poems but nothing can come close to this. I had learet this poem some where in 4th grade . Since then and until today I have this by heart . and the gayaki the way Ashaji has sung. Whenever I sing during the antakshari… My friends do insist me to sing the whole poem. This has to be delivered by which the listener must get his eyes wet. God is kind to me that I can deliver with the feelings. And yes there are apx. 3 poets have written “Dekhata Dikara no Jawab ” including GANDHI SAHEB . This poem has to be in ones Blood for ever and respect the Parents.

“આંધળી માનો કાગળ”, આ ગીત મેં લગભગ ૫૦ વરસ પહેલાં સાંભળેલું અને ત્યારે પણ લાગણીવશ થઈ જવાયેલું. આજે પણ આ કાગળ અને તેનો જવાબ બન્નેમાં લખાયેલાં સંજોગો ૫૦-૬૦ વરસ પહેલાં જેટલાં હતાં તેમાં પણ આજે બહુ કોઈ ફરક આવ્યો નથી. આજે પણ છોકરાઓ ગામ કે શહેર છોડીને ઘરથી દૂર જાય છે ત્યારે મોટા ભાગે આવીજ પરિસ્થિતિ બનતી હોય છે. કાંતો બહુ કમાતા ન હોય અને માંડ માંડ પુરુ કરતાં હોય અને ઘરે પૈસા મોકલી ન શકતાં હોય.
બહુ સત્ય ઘટના જેવા બન્ને “કાગળ” છે.

I,read these very touchy and emotional poems in my highschool years. Never had an oppertunity to listen to it. Indeed it was a very uniqe experince to listen to in a proffesinal voice. Like to request for a very old emotinal,tregic and long gujarati song ” Bhai mare bhav haria ane bhen mare dish jaye,bhai bahen na het ni sambhaljo aa vaat. Bachpanma gujri gaya maa ne jena baap. Bhai ben chalya re mosal, ,mami dukh de aapar, khune rota nana bal re madi na jaya bheni na mahena mare bhangvea…… .

બાધ્યું-ટિફીનનું જ ખાવું પડે છે, મળે છે માપો-માપ…

માડી તારો દિકરો, ગ્યો કેનેડા, કમાવા કાજે….
