સેનેટર ઓબામા(D) ને ખૂબ ખૂબ અભિનંદન, વિશ્વની સૌથી મોટી પ્રમુખગત લોકશાહી(અમેરિકા) ના પ્રમુખ થવા બદલ.. પણ શું તમને ખબર છે કે, આ ચૂંટણીમાં પ્રમુખ પદ ના બે પ્રબળ દાવેદાર, સેનેટર ઓબામા(D) અને સેનેટર મૅક્કેઇન(R) માંથી, સેનેટર મૅક્કેઇન(R) એ વિયેટનામ નાં શીતયુધ્ધ(1959-1975) માં એક યોધ્ધા તરીકે ભાગ લીધો હતો ?

એમાં એક નો વધારો !! આજે એક બહુ જ Rare ઑરિજિનલ ગીત – 1864 માં Elizabeth Knight & The Harvesters દ્વારા રેકોર્ડ થયેલ Album “Songs of the Civil War (1864)”, written by “Marie Ravenal de la Coste (1845-1936)” , Music by “John Hill Hewitt (1801-1890)” એવું – “કોઇનો લાડકવાયો” (ઝવેરચંદ મેઘાણી) નું ઓરિજિનલ ગીત Somebody’s Darling એનાં શબ્દો સાથે…

કદાચ, ટહુકાનાં વાચકો ને મૂળ ગીત, એ પણ દોઢ સદી પહેલાં રેકોર્ડ થયેલું, સાંભળવું ગમશે..એ પણ એકદમ, સરસ સ્વર અને સંગીત સાથે. (એના માટે આભાર માનવો રહ્યો આજની Technology નો, કે ગ્રામોફોન પર રેકોર્ડ થયેલા મૂળ ગીત થી MP3 સુધીનાં પરિવર્તન દરમિયાન, સ્વર અને સંગીત ની ગુણવત્તા અકબંધ રહી છે.)

The recording technology did not exist in 1864. The song is a part of Smithsonian compilation of Civil War Songs, and was released in 1960. I have pasted some of the contents from their website: http://www.folkways.si.edu/TrackDetails.aspx?itemid=18194
“The Civil War played an instrumental role in the development of an American national identity. Specifically for American folk music, the war inspired songwriting on both sides of the conflict, as amateurs and professionals wrote new, timely lyrics to old English, Scottish, and Irish ballads as well as original compositions. Some of the popular songs are still well known today, such as the “Battle Hymn of the Republic.” This 33-song collection, featuring Pete Seeger, The New Lost City Ramblers, Hermes Nye, Cisco Houston, Sandy Ives, and others, was released on the centennial of the Civil War in 1960. to be very frank, at times i envy you Jayshree for having all rare songs may be in all the possible language. but than the next moment, i thank god for giving u such a wonderful heart which believes in sharing.

This is really excellent and gave me a big surprise. I was fortunate enough to meet in person Shri Mahendrabhai Meghani, son of Shri Zaverchand Meghani in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, India.Shri Mahendrabhai Megahi is a very close, good friend of my friend Pradip P. Pandya of Bhavnager. This is the first time in my life I heard the full song and gone thro both the versions Gujarati and English. Sweet very sweet, goes right thro’ the heart.Its really, really superb. I do not have enough words to appreciate for doing this.Its a great work, well done. I guess one by one, day by day there are new windows and doors are being opened by Jai Shree bahen to give us more and more pleasant surprises which are priceless.
