રમેશ પારેખનું આ બાળગીત ન સાંભળ્યું હોય, એવો ગુજરાતી સાહિત્યનો રસિયો શોધવા માટે કદાચ દીવો લઇને નીકળવું પડે.. ( અને તો યે મોટેભાગે તો એ ના જ મળે..!! ) મને યાદ છે, E.TV ગુજરાતી (અથવા આલ્ફા ગુજરાતી) પર એક કાર્યક્રમ આવે છે – કંઠે કલમના મોતી.. એની જાહેરાતમાં કાયમ આ ગીત દર્શાવતા..!!
મને ખૂબ જ ગમતું આ બાળગીત, તમને પણ એટલું ગમશે.. !!

દાદાજીનાં ચશ્માંમાંથી કાઢી લીધો કાચ,
એનાથી ચાંદરણા પાડ્યાં પરદા ઉપર પાંચ
ચંદુ ફિલમ પાડે ત્યારે જોવા આવું હું,
હું ફિલમ પાડું તો જોવા આવે છે ચંદુ…

કાતરિયામાં છુપાઈને બેઠી’તી બિલ્લી એક,
ઉંદરડીને ભાળી એણે તરત લગાવી ઠેક;
ઉંદરડી છટકી ને બિલ્લી ચંદુ ઉપર આવી,
બીક લાગતાં ચંદુ સાથે ચીસો મેં ગજાવી .
દોડંદોડા ઉપર આવી પહોંચ્યાં મમ્મી-પપ્પા;
ચંદુડિયાનો કાન આમળ્યો, મને લગાવ્યા ધબ્બા…

What a lovely introduction to this column. I just heard about this site, and when I opened it for the first time, there was this article on “hun ne chandu”. For me the song brought back memories of my friends in Austin TX where I heard it from Shri Rasbihari Desai and Smt. Vibha Desai. They were touring with a show, and this was a new song at that time. Imagine being in this country as student, doing research and cut away from India for so long, suddenly hearing this number. It was so much fun. Another awesome number was “gujarati thai gujarati pan bole nahin barabar” or similar lyrics. And the never forgotten “hutututu”. Thank goodness for gems from our poets. Thanks for posting wonderful articles on this site. Keep it going.
