આવતા વર્ષે ગુજરાત રાજ્યની અલગ સ્થાપના થયાને ૫૦ વર્ષ પૂરા થશે. આવતી કાલે May 1, 2009 ના દિવસે ગુજરાત રાજ્ય પોતાના ૪૯ વર્ષની ખુશી મનાવશે, ત્યારે આપણે ટહુકો પર પણ દર વર્ષની ગુજરાત દિવસ મનાવશું જ. આજે યાદ કરીએ ૪૯ વર્ષ પહેલાના સમયને !!
કેવું કેવુંક થશે ગુજરાત – કોણ જાણે ?
આ તો ઉઘડંત રાત કે પ્રભાત – કોણ જાણે ?
કંઈ પામશે કે પહેરવાં નાગાં ?
સૂવા પામશે કે છાપરું અભાગાં ?
ભૂખ્યાં પામશે કે પેટપૂર ભાત – કોણ જાણે ?
(કે) પછી વધશે અહીં માળ ઉપર મજલો ?
પારકી જમીન પર મહેનતની ફસલો ?
તીડ-વાણિયાની વધશે જીવાત – કોણ જાણે ?
એ સોનેરી શમણું આંખ મારી ઝૂલે,
જાય ઊડી ઓસ સમું ન્હાની શી ય ભૂલે,
મારા શમણાની નાજુક બિછાત – કોણ જાણે ?

આ કાવ્ય મહાગુજરાત આંદોલનના જનક શ્રી ઈન્દુલાલ યાજ્ઞીકે વાંચ્યું હોત તો તેમનો પ્રત્યાઘાત કેવો હોત..!!
આ સામે ભારતના અરુણ પ્રભાતે પંડિત નહેરુની સ્પીચ યાદ આવી ગઈ.

It is my pleasure to read this creation.What poet had thought Icannot say, but after all these years of strggule our state has come out successfully and it has developed widely in each and every sphere,viz: Indusrial, agricultural, economical, education ,cottage industries, and what not? Our state has faced so many hurdles, natural, communal, still it is progressing like Banian tree and expanding branches in every matter. I can utter few words…… Jai Jai Garvi Gujarat… Kavi Narmad.In year 1949 I was studing in 2nd standard at Porbandar, my birth place and the poem was in our subject. Thanks for reminding my old days with this post.
