Keep it up.

  11. I was wanting to mean, “If Mr Udayan Thakkar would have been willing to invite all the comments, and asked you to publish the poem, then only it shall be allowed, otherwise, no comments shall be allowed.”

While poetry and poet are subject to valid criticism, as when published, it becomes a part of public domain and hence criticism. That though does not mean that one can start calling names in the name of one’s expression.

And I am again saying that I am sorry as I do not want to rake up any controversy or hurt anyone’s feelings.

  12. Hello Jayshreeben and Amitbhai

You have been doing wonderful yeoman service to Gujarati language and literature, music and artists and most importantly, those who are seriously interested in getting in touch with all those beautiful things in life.

As I do not want to enter into a debate about the word used in one of the comments saying that this is a “good GATAKADU” – may I request you to kindly STOP all comments about the “quality” as perceived by the members/non-members. ONLY IF MR UDAYAN THAKKAR, a poet, who has really written this poetry with lots of love (and about love), for him, it is still an ACHHANDAS poem and NOT A GATAKADU. For someone, who may be understanding the poetry and may be a great CRITIC but NOT A POET, this may be a GATAKADU. Sometimes, words like that, used so very lightly hurt … to me, this is a very good poem and someone terming it as a “good Gatakadu” hurts … but at the same time, I am civilised enough not to impose my personal views about art and poetry upon someone who might have been born to be a critic and not an artist. To “create” requires “creativity” (and sensitivity) required, which may not be present in everyone.

There is a couple of good sayings in Gujarati (1) Raja Ne Gami Te Raani, Ne Chhana Vinti Aaani (2) Siddi Ne Ena Sidka Vahla (This is about having a baby, whose skin is black in colour and I am quoting this as it means, EVERY PARENT LOVES THEIR OWN (KIDS). (As Siddis are a community which has African descent and lives mainly in Saurashtra region of Gujarat).

So, for Udayan Thakkar and people like me, it is still a “poetry” – for someone – it may be a Gatakadu. I can say to “insult” someone that “Oh, you are a good Gatakadu.” – but that, I know, can hurt. Apart from that, POETRY and its perception is a very very personal experience, let it remain that.

Do not print any comments … do we need them. Let everyone perceive as per their own perceptions and rest at that.

    Thanks and regards.
